Role Summary
Reporting at the executive level, the Vice President of Marketing Strategy & Growth will design and execute a long-term, integrated brand and growth strategy. The leader will oversee multi-channel campaigns, digital acquisition, content and narrative strategy, and media relations—partnering across teams to align brand, fundraising, and engagement goals.
Key Responsibilities
Brand & Marketing Strategy
- Lead a multi-year brand and marketing strategy rooted in mission and values.
- Drive growth through integrated GTM campaigns across advertising, PR, digital, social, and content.
- Oversee and optimize digital acquisition in partnership with external media agencies.
- Advance brand architecture, content strategy, and donor engagement with clarity and consistency.
Cross-Functional & Team Leadership
- Inspire and lead a multidisciplinary team of marketers, creatives, and media professionals.
- Cultivate a culture of excellence, innovation, accountability, and mission alignment.
- Partner with Philanthropy, Product, International Programs, and Donor Experience for cohesive execution.
- Serve as a visible, values-driven leader aligning stakeholders around shared growth goals.
Technology, Insights & Optimization
- Use data, analytics, and personalization to enhance marketing effectiveness and donor experiences.
- Champion AI and martech solutions that scale impact and inform decision-making.
- Implement tools and processes for agile planning, performance tracking, and optimization.
Storytelling & Content
- Own narrative strategy and creative direction for external communications.
- Ensure stories are ethically sourced, emotionally resonant, and aligned with brand voice and values.
- Guide editorial calendars and creative development to amplify the voices of program participants.
Media Relations & Public Engagement
- Elevate visibility and thought leadership through strategic PR and media engagement.
- Lead proactive media efforts, executive positioning, and crisis communications in alignment with mission.
Ideal Profile
- 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, including 5+ years in integrated leadership roles.
- Nonprofit or donor-driven background; international development/global nonprofit experience preferred.
- Proven success leading multi-year, organization-wide campaigns integrating brand, fundraising, and engagement.
- Experience engaging high-net-worth donors with clear impact communication and tailored strategies.
- Strategic, donor-centric marketer fluent in full-funnel planning and measurement.
- Growth-oriented leader with measurable results in fast-paced, purpose-driven environments.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; effective across all organizational levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).
- Ability to travel up to 15% (primarily domestic; periodic international).
Compensation, Benefits, And Location
Job type: Full-time. Location: Kansas City, MO, with hybrid flexibility. Salary range: $178,522–$227,945 USD. Unbound will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

- Hybrid work policy; ability to work from home 2–3 days per week.
