The Buckley School is hiring a full-time Social Media Coordinator to join its communications office in Los Angeles, CA. This role shapes stories across web, social, and print to strengthen community engagement and support admission, advancement, and DEI goals.

Role Summary

Reporting to the director of strategic marketing and communications and working closely with the digital content manager, the Social Media Coordinator creates and curates multi-format content as a writer, reporter, photographer, and graphic designer. The communications office collaborates with advancement, admission, and DEI to deliver clear information and a welcoming brand experience. This position is on campus daily and may require evening or weekend coverage for events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create daily content for social media, website, and print platforms.
  • Capture photos on and off campus; coordinate with external photographers and videographers as needed.
  • Write articles, captions, magazine pieces, and other copy across channels.
  • Design social graphics, slide presentations, invitations, posters, flyers, and related materials.
  • Coordinate content and timing with the director, digital content manager, and auxiliary programs manager to support admission, advancement, and community objectives.
  • Partner with communications interns, admission ambassadors, club and team leaders, and community groups to gather, edit, and publish content across platforms.
  • Apply brand standards (color palette, fonts, logos, and style guide) consistent with best practices in design and marketing.
  • Organize and manage the photo archive to ensure accessible, high-quality assets.
  • Align web, print, social, and word-of-mouth marketing to deliver a cohesive message.
  • Attend on- and off-campus events as a reporter, photographer, and representative of the school; participate in calendar meetings and updates for internal and public sites.

  • Outstanding project management; able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines with strong follow-through and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with a digital camera; skilled visual storyteller across design, illustration, motion graphics, photography, video, and mixed media.
  • Adaptable, dependable, and calm under pressure; flexible in response to changing demands and priorities.
  • Effective working with K–12 students, faculty, families, and diverse constituencies; committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; persistent yet collaborative when sourcing stories and coordinating schedules.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; independent school or higher education experience preferred.

Compensation And Benefits

Pay range: $30.00–$38.00 per hour ($60,000–$75,000 annualized), depending on experience. Base salary is separate from fringe benefits, which may include retirement contributions, daily lunch, on-site parking, contributions to medical, dental, vision, and life/AD&D plans, generous time off, and potential stipends for eligible employees. Actual base salary is determined by education, experience, and schedule; the range is a reasonable estimate and not a guarantee.

Location And Schedule

Los Angeles, CA. Full-time, on-campus daily. Evening and weekend availability may be required to cover events; attendance at on- and off-campus activities is part of the role.
