Role Summary
The Head of Events will govern the annual calendar and budget, standardize pre/during/post-event workflows, and orchestrate a 60+ event portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you will directly manage two Event Managers. This is a player–coach role: initially hands-on to stabilize and standardize execution, then shifting to a majority coaching focus as systems and staffing mature.
Key Responsibilities
- Calendar Strategy & Budgets: Own the annual events calendar, capacity planning, budget, and forecast.
- Operating Model: Build playbooks, briefs, timelines, SLAs, and RACI to standardize execution across the program.
- Sales & Growth Alignment: Coordinate target lists, outreach cadences, staffing, on-site plans, and enforce post-event follow-up SLAs with conversion tracking.
- Resource & Vendor Strategy: Scope, source, and manage contractors and agencies across fabrication, logistics, and creative; negotiate scopes, budgets, and quality standards.
- Program Management: Orchestrate a 60+ event portfolio; coach and unblock senior owners while preserving clear lanes of ownership and raising the bar on quality.
- Cross-Functional Production: Partner with Brand & Design on assets; with Product Marketing on messaging; and with Operations on data flows and instrumentation.
- Measurement & ROI: Build dashboards, run post-mortems, and drive continuous improvement across registrations, attendance, meetings set, sourced/influenced pipeline, velocity, and ROI.
Ideal Profile
- 7+ years leading B2B event programs (50–100+ events/year) with demonstrable pipeline impact.
- Builder mindset with strong process design skills; can convert ad-hoc execution into repeatable systems without losing agility.
- Proven partnership with Sales to drive pre-event targeting and rigorous post-event follow-up that converts to opportunities.
- Player–coach leadership style; experienced enabling senior ICs through influence, coaching, and clear operating rhythms.
- Vendor and contractor management across creative, fabrication, and logistics, including scoping, sourcing, negotiating, and quality control.
- Fluency with CRM, marketing automation, and project tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Asana).
- Excellent program management, cross-departmental coordination, strong executive presence, and willingness to travel for priority events.
Success Metrics (6–12 Months)
- Engine In Place: Playbooks, SLAs, and calendar governance adopted with predictable execution across the portfolio.
- Empowered Team: Two Event Managers retain clear ownership; throughput increases while bottlenecks decrease.
- Scaled Capacity: Contractor/agency bench established; reduced time-to-launch and improved on-site quality within budget.
- Revenue Impact: Higher meeting rates and opportunity conversion; consistent post-event follow-up within SLA; executive visibility via dashboards and readouts.
