Macmillan Learning is hiring a Director/Associate Director of Marketing to lead its high school portfolio—a strategic role for a proven, hands-on marketing leader who can set vision, drive execution, and partner cross-functionally to grow share in an evolving K–12 landscape.

Role Summary
This leader will own strategy and execution for the high school marketing function—setting a competitive vision, guiding platform and flagship initiatives (e.g., APSI campaigns), and modeling best-in-class, data-driven marketing. The role combines strategic stewardship with hands-on campaign leadership, close partnership with sales and editorial, and thoughtful people management. Deep familiarity with the College Board ecosystem, emerging technologies (including AI), and high school trends is key to sustaining the portfolio’s market leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and communicate a clear, competitive vision for the high school portfolio aligned to business strategy.
- Lead discovery, market research, and insight application to inform product positioning and go-to-market plans.
- Partner with product, program management, and sales to ensure strategies reflect evolving classroom needs and market dynamics.
- Own cross-discipline initiatives (platform strategy, campaigns, sales enablement) and set benchmarks for quality and results.
- Develop, coach, and scale a high-performing team; foster experimentation and knowledge sharing, including AI-enabled workflows.
- Plan and execute integrated, measurable campaigns; reuse and optimize assets across channels and disciplines for scale and speed.
- Collaborate with shared services (Customer Marketing, Platform Product Marketing, Performance Marketing) to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
- Establish KPIs; analyze campaign and enablement performance; iterate strategies based on data and trends.
- Represent marketing with select educators and at conferences; deliver presentations and address product questions as needed.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree; 5+ years in marketing campaign execution with demonstrated strategic and creative results.
- Proven communicator able to present complex topics to diverse stakeholders and align cross-functional teams.
- People leadership experience with a track record of coaching and developing talent in a collaborative, accountable culture.
- Business acumen to prioritize, navigate trade-offs, and align decisions to company strategy; ability to manage conflicting priorities with tact.
- Comfort with data, KPIs, and optimization; familiarity with AI-supported marketing workflows and analytics is a plus.
- Tools: Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Marketo, Asana, Salesforce, Power BI (preferred).
- Background in K–12 (preferably high school) education, publishing, or edtech is preferred; passion for emerging marketing technologies.
- Ability to travel up to 10 weeks per year; occasional lifting (35–50 lbs) and event setup may be required.
Compensation, Location, And Work Setup
Salary ranges: $105,000–$115,000 (Associate Director) and $115,000–$125,000 (Director), USD; exempt role. Primary location: New York, NY. The position is eligible for remote employment, excluding Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
