Joby Aviation is hiring a full-time Social Media Manager to lead strategy, content, and community across its consumer-facing channels. Based in Santa Cruz, CA, this role will build excitement for electric air travel, grow global audiences, and strengthen connections with future customers. The ideal candidate combines creative instincts with analytical rigor and hands-on execution.
Company Overview
Joby Aviation is developing piloted, electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to operate as part of an air taxi network. Since 2009, the team has advanced multiple generations of prototypes and is working toward aircraft certification, scaling manufacturing, and launching initial commercial service.
Role Summary
The Social Media Manager will own Joby’s social presence end to end—from strategy and content to community management and measurement. You will collaborate closely with in-house Marketing Communications and Creative teams, stay ahead of platform trends, and establish processes that enable consistent, on-brand storytelling at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute platform-specific social strategies to drive growth and engagement.
- Partner with internal teams to shape content that aligns with brand voice, goals, and messaging.
- Manage community interactions, respond to inquiries, and nurture a global audience of future travelers.
- Monitor performance and use insights to refine tactics and deliver best-in-class results.
- Collaborate on paid social campaigns that amplify reach and impact.
- Build partnerships with creators, influencers, and corporate collaborators to expand reach.
- Balance high-level strategy with day-to-day execution across channels and formats.
- Establish foundations for operational engagement and customer service as commercial launch approaches.

- Trend-forward marketer who actively tracks emerging platforms and engagement tactics.
- Collaborative operator experienced in aligning content and messaging across teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
- 5+ years managing social media for a high-growth or globally recognized brand.
- Proven ability to drive organic growth and optimize content by platform.
- Experience with paid social campaigns and analytics tools.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to craft clear, on-brand messaging.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience communicating highly technical content.
- Familiarity with analytics and paid advertising platforms.
Compensation, Benefits, And Location
This is a full-time role based in Santa Cruz, CA.
- Compensation: Target base pay of $97,500–$129,900 USD per year; total package includes Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) and is determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
