Role Summary

The Director of Marketing will own Hippo Harvest’s end-to-end marketing strategy and execution. You will drive brand awareness and demand across retail, trade shows, packaging, e-commerce, and DTC, while leading digital programs spanning website strategy, SEO, paid media, email, and social. The role includes narrative development and brand management, budget ownership, KPI tracking, and close cross-functional collaboration with operations, product, finance, and leadership—all with an eye toward building an internal team over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute integrated plans across retail, trade, packaging, e-commerce, and DTC.
  • Build and ship campaigns hands-on; manage agencies/consultants and create the basis for an internal team.
  • Lead retail and trade marketing, including activation plans, trade shows, and brand partnerships.
  • Own brand and communications from packaging and in-store displays to digital content and guidelines.
  • Scale digital and DTC channels: website/SEO, digital advertising, email lifecycle, and social campaigns.
  • Set budgets, define KPIs, forecast ROI, and optimize based on insight-driven analysis.
  • Partner with operations, product, finance, and leadership to align plans with business goals.
  • Prepare to scale the function by identifying future hires, processes, and frameworks.

Ideal Profile

  • Mastery of consumer-centric marketing, brand development, positioning, multichannel execution, and ROI measurement.
  • Deep knowledge of grocery retail journeys, in-store activation, category management, and shopper marketing.
  • Experience in produce is encouraged; fresh or leafy greens background is a strong plus.
  • Proven success in retail/trade engagement, digital and DTC programs, and cohesive brand storytelling.
  • Strategic, analytical, and creative with excellent communication and project leadership skills.
  • Comfort owning budgets, forecasting ROI, and making data-informed decisions.
  • Self-starter who can self-unblock and drive initiatives, while remaining collaborative and team-first.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field is a plus.
  • 5–10 years in marketing with ownership of strategy and execution at senior levels.

Compensation, Benefits, And Location

This is a full-time, remote position. Compensation ranges from $150,000 to $200,000 USD annually, with a stock option package.
