Employee Relations Director, Hibu (Cedar Rapids, IA)
Hibu is hiring an Employee Relations Director to lead employee relations strategy and operations across the organization. This senior role partners closely with executives and HR leaders to foster an engaging, compliant workplace, guide complex investigations, and strengthen performance, retention, and culture.

Role Summary
The Employee Relations Director will shape and execute Hibu’s employee relations strategy in alignment with business goals and HR priorities. The leader will advise executives and managers on performance and policy matters, oversee fair and consistent investigations, drive manager training, and ensure programs and practices meet legal and ethical standards. The role also partners on engagement initiatives, turnover reduction, and performance management processes that support a high-performing culture.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and lead the company’s employee relations strategy aligned with business and HR priorities.
Advise leaders on performance, policy interpretation, risk mitigation, and complex employee relations matters.
Oversee investigations with fairness, consistency, confidentiality, and proper documentation of outcomes.
Identify trends and anticipate challenges; recommend proactive solutions with HR leadership and business partners.
Partner with internal teams on employee engagement activities in hub locations, including coordination of the Hibu United Way Campaign.
Collaborate with teams that manage employment-related claims and ensure timely, effective responses.
Design and deliver training for managers on employee relations best practices and policy compliance.
Maintain legally compliant programs and tools, including the employee handbook, ethics hotline, and required training.
Monitor turnover, surface insights, and partner with senior leaders to implement engagement and retention initiatives.
Ensure effective performance management programs; implement processes and tools that drive high performance and recognition.
Ideal Profile
7–10 years of professional HR experience, including 5+ years partnering with senior leaders.
Expertise in employment law, investigations, conflict resolution, and policy administration.
Strong interpersonal communication and influencing skills; builds credibility at all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and direct work across professional and tactical functions.
Analytical, data-informed decision making; strong problem-solving capabilities in complex environments.
Demonstrated discretion and integrity when handling sensitive matters and confidential information.
High character, professionalism, and sound judgment; collaborates effectively and builds consensus across teams.
Organized and reliable in managing priorities for self and team; communicates with clarity and empathy.
Preferred: Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field; HR certification.
Compensation, Location, And Work Setup
Job type: Full-time. Location: Cedar Rapids, IA. Work setup: Hybrid (as indicated in the listing). Compensation: USD $107,436–$136,038. Hibu notes competitive compensation, ongoing training, incentives, and a generous benefits package for employees.
