Communications Manager, Health Care For All (Boston, MA)

Health Care For All (HCFA) is hiring a Communications Manager to strengthen the organization’s visibility, reputation, and engagement across audiences. This role blends strategic planning with hands-on execution across social, web, email, media relations, and event communications to support fundraising, programmatic, and advocacy goals.

Company Overview

Founded in 1985, HCFA is a Massachusetts-based consumer health advocacy organization focused on health justice, equity, and access. The team advances this mission through direct service, community engagement, and policy and advocacy campaigns—leveraging multilingual HelpLine insights and grassroots partnerships to inform statewide policy change. HCFA has led and supported major public health initiatives and coalitions, including efforts related to coverage redeterminations, vaccine equity, and responses to health system disruptions.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Communications Manager develops and executes an annual communications plan; manages social media, email, publications, and the website; oversees vendor relationships; and partners with a communications consulting firm on media relations. The role ensures consistent, mission-aligned messaging and supports a signature annual fundraising event with end-to-end communications and logistics coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Ideal Profile

  • 4–6 years in communications, marketing, or public relations with multi-channel management and vendor oversight experience.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills; ability to translate complex topics clearly and accurately.
  • Experience with social platforms, email tools, analytics, and CMS; proficiency with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Media relations experience, including building relationships with journalists and coordinating interviews and press materials.
  • Detail-oriented project manager with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and uphold quality standards; collaborative and self-directed.
  • Health policy or health care experience is highly desirable; commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and HCFA’s mission is essential.

Compensation, Benefits, And Location

Salary range: $70,000–$75,000 USD. Location: Boston, MA. HCFA is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive, supportive workplace.
