Role Summary
As Director of Social Media, you will own Duolingo’s global brand channels and set the standard for social-first marketing. You’ll define and evolve the voice of Duo, lead a high-performing team, and create culture-forward content across TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. Success looks like sustained organic growth, high-quality creative, and measurable impact on brand affinity.
Key Responsibilities
- Own strategy, publishing, and performance for global channels including TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
- Create content that consistently entertains, engages, and achieves strong organic reach.
- Test bold ideas and optimize using both creative intuition and quantitative analysis.
- Define Duo’s tone and translate the Duolingo brand for diverse social audiences.
- Grow organic impressions, followers, and brand love through consistently excellent storytelling.
- Manage, hire, and coach a best-in-class social team; champion a social-first mindset across marketing.
- Partner on global and local campaigns, mentoring teammates on what works on social.
- Ideate and execute social-first campaigns that break through in culture, including video-led initiatives.
Ideal Profile
- 7–10 years of social media experience at a major brand or organization, including 2–3 years managing teams.
- Proven track record growing social communities and delivering measurable results over time.
- A portfolio that showcases culturally resonant work, clear concepts, and business impact (portfolio required for consideration).
- Ability to operate across high-level content strategy and hands-on production with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience leading video production from concept through distribution.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; able to build trust, influence partners, and inspire teams.
- Ability to work in or relocate to Pittsburgh, PA or New York, NY; interest in language learning is a plus.
Compensation And Location
Location: Pittsburgh, PA (with the ability to relocate to Pittsburgh, PA or New York, NY). The posted compensation range is $189,600–$342,000 USD.
