Role Summary
The Strategic Marketing Director will set the strategic direction for marketing, partnering closely with sales, pricing, analytics, and business development. The leader will build data-informed strategies to defend core segments, expand share in new regions and industries, and modernize sales operations, tooling, and processes to accelerate pipeline growth and conversion.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategies that protect core markets while identifying expansion opportunities across regions and segments.
- Align marketing with sales to drive pipeline creation, velocity, and conversion.
- Leverage CRM and marketing automation to improve engagement, lead generation, and proposal management.
- Analyze market trends and customer behavior to inform positioning and plan adjustments.
- Lead continuous improvement in sales operations, processes, and technology adoption as a change agent.
- Partner with sales, pricing, and analytics to enhance bidding with data-driven pricing strategies and optimized attainment.
- Develop forecasts and sales strategies; optimize processes and toolsets for scale and accuracy.
- Conduct market research to shape product- and industry-specific strategies, including segmentation and positioning.
- Identify partnerships and alliances that expand reach and support entry into new markets and countries.
- Ensure sales strategies and marketing initiatives are tightly aligned to maximize penetration and revenue.
- Travel approximately 25% of the time.
Ideal Profile
- BA/BS in Marketing, Engineering, Communications, or Liberal Arts; MBA in marketing or communications is a plus.
- 8+ years in related sales and marketing roles with 4+ years in leadership; industry experience in Oil & Gas, Power, Aviation, Energy, or Transportation preferred.
- Proven ability to analyze market trends and translate insights into strategy and execution plans.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams spanning digital marketing, communications, and sales enablement.
- Expertise in data and analytics for decision-making, personalized marketing, and customer segmentation.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms and marketing automation to improve efficiency and conversion.
- Background with complex industrial products; experience in industrial engines and compressors is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success building product-specific strategies (market analysis, segmentation, positioning).
- Customer-centric mindset with curiosity about customer needs and market dynamics.
- Robust professional network enabling partnerships and strategic alliances.
- Creative, innovative problem-solver with a test-and-learn mindset and agile marketing experience.
- High EQ and proven cross-functional collaboration across regional sales, pricing, strategic accounts, and adjacent teams.
Compensation, Location, And Employment Details
- Salary range: $98,217–$129,071 USD, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Employment type: Full-time, salaried, exempt.
- Location: Houston, Texas (with global collaboration).
- Travel: Approximately 25%.
