Strategic Account Director, BigCommerce (Austin, TX — Remote)
BigCommerce is hiring a Strategic Account Director to drive enterprise growth in a modern, AI-enabled commerce environment. You’ll own the sales motion for high-value prospects, shape solutions with cross-functional partners, and help customers solve complex ecommerce challenges. This role blends consultative selling, territory leadership, and hands-on execution to build a durable book of business and long-term client value.

Role Summary
As Strategic Account Director, you will acquire and grow enterprise accounts (typically $1M+ GMV or contract potential). You will lead the full sales cycle—from positioning and demos to solution design and close—while serving as territory owner and subject matter expert. Success requires strong outbound prospecting, rigorous pipeline discipline, and deep collaboration with Sales Engineering, implementation teams, and partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new client acquisition within enterprise segments, focusing on long-term strategic value.
- Own the sales process: discovery, positioning, demos, proposals, and closing.
- Act as territory owner and subject matter expert for ecommerce strategy and solutions.
- Build and manage a book of business through outbound prospecting and inbound qualification.
- Identify customer needs and craft tailored sales strategies and proposals.
- Partner with implementation teams and external partners to ensure seamless onboarding and time-to-value.
- Provide industry insights across web design, SEO, PPC, email marketing, analytics, and ecommerce best practices.
- Meet or exceed sales targets, maintain accurate CRM hygiene, and forecast reliably.
- Collaborate with the BigCommerce partner ecosystem and Sales Engineering to design solutions and close deals remotely or on-site as needed.
Ideal Profile
- 7+ years in B2C sales, including 3+ years in SaaS or ecommerce platforms with consultative, solution-based selling.
- Proven track record leading complex, multi-stakeholder deals and consistently hitting quotas in an acquisition-driven environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with strong relationship-building skills at executive and technical levels.
- Technically conversant; comfortable with internet technologies, analytics, and ecommerce tooling; HTML/CSS familiarity is a plus.
- Customer-focused, ethical approach and attention to detail when handling sensitive information.
- Results-oriented mindset with strong organization, pipeline discipline, and CRM rigor.
- Analytical forecasting skills and a solution-oriented approach to keeping deals on track.
- Confidence in prospecting, objection handling, and navigating rejection constructively.
Compensation, Location, And Type
Compensation range: $204,000–$345,000 USD, dependent on location, experience, and qualifications. This is a full-time role based in Austin, TX, with remote flexibility.
