BDO is hiring an Internal Communications Manager to shape strategic, employee-facing communications that drive change, foster engagement, and strengthen culture. This role partners closely with leaders and cross-functional teams to deliver clear narratives and measurable results.

Role Summary

The Internal Communications Manager develops and executes integrated plans that build awareness of firm initiatives, support adoption of new processes and technologies, and amplify leadership voices. You’ll craft clear, audience-specific messaging across channels, support high-visibility meetings, and continuously refine strategies based on outcomes and feedback.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders; understand goals, challenges, and audiences.
  • Build and execute communications plans that drive awareness, engagement, and adoption of change.
  • Apply change communications best practices with a cohesive narrative and multi-channel strategy.
  • Segment audiences and tailor messaging for clarity and relevance.
  • Partner with leaders to refine and amplify their voice, vision, and messages.
  • Research, write, and edit content for internal news sites, email, internal social platforms, voicemail, video, presentations, and talking points.
  • Shape agendas, provide presentation guidance, and capture takeaways for key meetings and calls.
  • Assess progress against goals; analyze feedback and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Review and edit content from team members and stakeholders to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Introduce innovative ideas to enhance channels, processes, and engagement tactics.

Ideal Profile

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s in Communications, English, Journalism, or PR with 5+ years in internal communications, journalism, marketing, or PR; or a high school diploma/GED with 8+ years in these areas.
  • Experience in change management and professional services is preferred; prior HR, Marketing, Finance, or IT comms experience is a plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • Exceptional project management and ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills aligned to AP style; strong verbal communication and active listening.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise messaging for varied audiences.
  • Curiosity about emerging communications trends; flexible and comfortable with ambiguity.

Tools & Platforms

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced Word and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Experience with SharePoint, OneDrive, and content management systems preferred.

Compensation & Location

Location: Pittsburgh, PA | Type: Full-time

Compensation: National range $90,000–$115,000 USD. Actual pay is determined by factors including qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. Per the posting, Maryland and NYC/Long Island/Westchester ranges are the same.
