Role Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full brand experience: on-air content, events, promotions, contesting, and digital.
- Craft music logs, schedule and direct talent, and coach personalities consistently.
- Engage artists and labels to secure distinctive content and experiences for listeners.
- Coordinate station visits and in-house performances that align with the brand.
- Collaborate with marketing, sales, and promotions to achieve ratings and advertiser results.
- Use social media strategically to extend ratings impact, brand equity, and engagement.
- Ensure compliance with company programming standards and FCC regulations.
- Champion the station’s relationship with the local community and lead by example.
- Set clear content goals and be accountable for ratings and digital performance.
- Partner closely with sales leadership and support a sales-friendly environment.
- Manage the programming budget and leverage promotional strengths to meet goals.
- Provide ratings analysis and reporting for over-the-air and digital platforms; supervise syndicated services and department staff.
Ideal Profile
- Proven ratings and revenue success in Triple A/Modern Rock/Alternative/Classic Rock/Rock/Classic Hits in a Top 10 market.
- Self-motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative leader experienced partnering with sales, marketing, and promotions in a matrixed environment.
- Deep knowledge of FCC rules, local market demographics, and the broadcast area.
- Familiarity with union environments and represented employees.
- Valid driver’s license, satisfactory motor vehicle record check, and proof of insurance if using a personal vehicle.
- Minimum 5 years in major-market programming management; bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Compensation, Benefits, And Location
Pay transparency: $175,000–$200,000 USD annually. Final compensation depends on education, experience, skills, and internal equity. Role is full-time, on-site in Chicago, IL (Department: Programming). Eligible employees have access to a comprehensive benefits package, including:
