The American Cancer Society (ACS) is hiring a Managing Director, Email Marketing to lead enterprise-wide email, SMS, and marketing automation. Role Summary

The Managing Director, Email Marketing owns the enterprise strategy and execution for email, text, and automated journeys, serving as the business owner for Salesforce Marketing Cloud. You’ll lead a center-of-excellence team, standardize practices across 13+ email and 5+ SMS programs, and drive list growth, engagement, and revenue. The role spans strategy, compliance, platform optimization, cross-channel integration, and performance management—while partnering closely with Legal, IT, and stakeholders across fundraising, mission delivery, and marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-wide marketing automation strategy aligned to fundraising, engagement, and mission goals.
  • Serve as business owner for Salesforce Marketing Cloud; oversee tool selection, optimization, and integrations across platforms.
  • Develop audience segmentation and personalization strategies that increase revenue, retention, and service delivery impact.
  • Ensure compliance and partner with Legal on privacy and regulatory requirements for email, SMS, and automated journeys; monitor changes and mitigate risk.
  • Lead integrated multichannel campaign strategy across digital, social, and offline to deliver cohesive experiences.
  • Own KPIs, testing roadmaps, and optimization; analyze performance and continuously improve journeys and communications.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, budgets, invoicing, and forecasting for email and text programs; deliver annual revenue goals for the channel.
  • Lead, develop, and scale the Email Marketing team; set standards, train users enterprise-wide, and optimize workflows and access.
  • Address customer service escalations related to email/SMS and automated experiences; drive prompt resolution and continuous improvement.

Ideal Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; Marketing Cloud Email Specialist certification required.
  • 10+ years in marketing with significant project/program management; 7+ years leading national email programs for a large nonprofit or enterprise organization.
  • Expertise in CRM data governance, segmentation, and marketing automation; experience across full-service and self-service ESPs (including SFMC).
  • Strength in compliance, privacy, and state-by-state online giving considerations; detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven leadership in cross-functional settings; excellent communication, prioritization, and stakeholder management in fast-paced environments.

Compensation And Location

Salary range: $140,000–$170,000 USD annually, commensurate with location, experience, skills, specialty, and education. This is a full-time, remote role and can be home-based anywhere in the United States.
